Find out moreTink is a Swedish fintech with the goal of helping people understand their finances and make smarter decisions.
The app allows users to connect all their cards and bank accounts, pay bills, transfer money, open savings accounts and gain personalised insights. Tink’s B2B offering, Tink Technology, provides easy-to-use APIs as building-blocks to create next-generation banking services. Its products include Account Aggregation, Payment Initiation, Personal Finance Management and Product Recommendations that are offered as a managed service. Its Open Banking platform is used by over 4,000 developers.
Tink launched in 2012, beginning with a consumer app that has today become a platform that offers the tools to let anyone build financial services across Europe.
In February 2019 Tink partnered with BNP Paribas Fortis to aggregate a broad range of financial data, including current and savings accounts, to help the bank deliver more personalised insights to their end-users. They also aim to increase engagement and user retention by helping people centrally manage their finances.
The company raised €90m in early 2020, which it stated would be used to expand further across Europe (it is currently operating in Sweden, the UK, Germany and Spain, amongst other countries), and bolster its Open Banking platform. The round was led by Dawn Capital and HMI Capital.
In January of 2020, Tink also announced an expansion of their partnership with BNP Paribas to include the bank's Italian retail network. The recent investment included involvement from BNP's VC arm - Opera Tech Ventures - and further establishes Tink as a trusted partner of EU retail banks.
Tink announced it had acquired account aggregation service provider Eurobits Technologies for €15.5m in March 2020. Once approved, the acquisition gives Tink access to a total of 17 markets. This move was followed several months later by the acquisition of Instantor, a credit decision solution, for an undisclosed amount.
