sum.cumo overview

Sum.Cumo helps traditional insurance companies to develop and launch e-commerce products, and also provides consultancy services on UX and technology.  The B2B insurtech particularly specialises in the area of motor and legal expenses insurance. The company reported €11.8m in sales in 2018.

Sum.Cumo's clients and partners include Ergo, Allianz, Alte Leipziger and Swiss Re.

In January 2020, Sum.Cumo was acquired for €28.4m by Sapiens International Corporation, a global insurance software provider. Sum.Cumo had previously been owned by die Byerische Versicherungsgruppe. 

Sum.Cumo is based in Hamburg (and also has offices in Dusseldorf and Zurich) and at the time of its acquisition had a team of around 150m. It was founded in 2010 by Björn Freter.
