Sana Benefits

Sana Benefits is a health insurance solution built for small and medium sized businesses.

Sana offers benefit packages for employers with full medical, dental, and vision and also offers telemedicine, mental and physical wellness and maternity care packages. Sana's premium services partners include Beam Dental, Calm and ClassPass, amongst others. Sana's proprietary software, which took around 18 months to develop, can automate 97% of claim cases. Sana also offers a network structure, Sana Anywhere, which enables its users to select which doctor they want, and know ahead of time how much their costs will be.

It claims to save customers up to 20% on what they would get from a traditional plan. Clients include Door and Abodewell.

In October 2019 Sana Benefits raised $3.6m in Seed funding led by Gigafund and Trust Ventures.

Sana Benefits raised $20.8m in a new round of Series A funding in September 2020. The company, which currently operates in Texas and Kentucky, plans to expand into Illinois later in 2020.

In October 2021, Sana Benefits raised $20m in a Series A extension. American Family Ventures was one of the named investors. The company stated it has grown its customer base by 140% in the past 12 months, and will use the funding to continue expanding into new markets, as well as their existing one. It will also look to invest into advanced primary care.

In June 2022 Sana Benefits raised $60M in a Series B funding round to geographically expand in the US, after tripling its customers in the past year. The company said that it has 'roughly doubled' its valuation since last October when it secured $20M Series A extension. The company also opened its first physical primary care centre earlier this year.
