Find out moreHartford InsurTech Hub is a hub and associated accelerator powered by Startupbootcamp and based in Hartford, CT. It launched in September 2017, and supports insurance-focused technology startups.
The hub was launched as part of an initiative to bring more InsurTech innovation activity to the area, attract technology companies that can bring improvements upon health, life and P&C insurance, and provide entrepreneurs with support, resources and relevant connections.
The InsurTech accelerator runs annually, accepting 10-12 ventures from an international selection process. Each startup receives an initial grant of $25k, co-working space and access to Startupbootcamp’s network of mentors and investors as part of the three-month program.
The accelerator’s themes include Big Data & Advanced Analytics, the Connected World & IoT, Health & the Future of Wearables, Robotics & Automation, Cyber Security, Blockchain for Insurers and Optimising the Value Chain.
Hartford InsurTech Hub has partnerships with USAA, White Mountains, Cigna, The Hartford, Travelers and CTNext.
In February 2020 the Hub launched a new program focused on life, annuity, retirement, long-term care and benefits insurtech. Launch partners include The Hartford, Tokio Marine Holdings, and Capgemini.
In April 2020, shortly after the demo day of its third cohort, it was revealed the accelerator's 3-year contract was not going to be renewed in the foreseeable future, due to the insurance sponsors having concerns around Covid-19 uncertainty. Managing Director Dawn LeBlanc stated she hoped the program would relaunch in Autumn.
