GoBear

GoBear is a financial services comparison platform offering more than 1,800 financial products for its users. The company’s coverage-score algorithm provides users with a clear indication of a financial product’s benefit quality.

When stacked against the product’s premium, the user is able to make a more informed and cost-effective choice based on their individual needs. GoBear’s customer-centric platform neither aggregates nor sells products. Instead, the site simply offers consumers a free and transparent comparison process based on their financial needs. The result is a user-friendly and informed experience that saves consumers both time and money.

In 2018 the company partnered with credit scoring company, CredoLab to develop their first AI-driven mobile application that coincides with the online platform services. The company also appointed Adrian Chng to succeed Andre Hesselink as its CEO. Most recently, Chng was CEO of Fintonia, a merchant bank he founded in 2015 that invests in FinTech companies in ASEAN and Hong Kong. During that time Chng simultaneously co-founded Credolab and AsiaKredit in 2016 and 2017.

In May 2020 GoBear raised $17m from VC Walvis Participaties and insurer Aegon NV. GoBear stated it would use the funds to accelerate the company's transformation into a full financial platform. The company plans to add three new key areas to its platform: digital insurance brokerage, an online financial supermarket and digital lending, all of which will be based on the use of alternative data to help promote financial inclusion.

GoBear is available in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. To date, it has served over 40m users, and has more than 1,800 personal finance products available to search.

In April 2021 GoBear was acquired by Australia's financial comparison company Finder, as part of the latter's global expansion strategy. GoBear will add to Finder's 10m global consumer base.
