Dacadoo overview

Dacadoo is a Swiss company that encourages behavioural changes to help improve fitness and health. It has developed the Dacadoo Health Score platform, an integrated view of lifestyle components such as physical activity, nutrition, stress and sleep, to help users manage their health in a centralised manner. The company partners with health and life insurers and corporate health service providers to help them engage with their clients.

Dacadoo calculates a user's personal Dacadoo health score, an indicator of their current health status in a number between 1 (low) and 1000 (high). It is calculated through the user's own perception of their quality of life, their lifestyle choices and their activities. Dacadoo offers its own tracker application called the “Dacadoo Tracker” to automatically track all activities without manual entry on the system, available for iPhone, Android and BlackBerry in the respective stores. Dacadoo also allows to use other fitness tracking devices and can connect to external biosensor devices, such as weight scales, blood pressure cuffs or heart rate bands. Gamification principles with level systems, achievements and rewards, fitness leagues and challenges have been incorporated in the platform as well as group dynamics through its own social network.

In 2018, Dacadoo announced a partnership with Generali Greece, which will see them promote health and wellness across the nation. The following year, also, its location-based walking game, Dacadoo GO, teamed up with the UAE's Damian Health Insurance to encourage good habits and good causes. As a result, they challenge the nation's population to hit a combined total of one billion steps in four weeks. When the target is reached, Damian Health will donate 500,000 Dirhams towards the UAE's Special Olympics.

In December 2019 Dacadoo announced it has raised a Series C round of 70M Swiss francs.

The startup partnered with Seguros Unimed, Brazil's largest health insurer, in March 2020 to provide digital health and wellness services to its 18m customers and 120,000 physicians.

Dacadoo partnered with Manulife in the same month to enhance ManulifeMOVE, the health engagement platform, in Asia. The partnership uses behavioural science, curated content and digital coaching, as well as Dacadoo's patented health score, to help users make better lifestyle choices.

In the summer of 2020 Dacadoo partnered with SOMPO to help launch Sompo's new health app Linkx Score, which will use data from exercise to predict health risks and prevent illness.

In January 2021 Dacadoo partnered with Foresters Financial to develop a wellbeing platform that rewards members for looking after their physical and mental health, as well as those who practice community-mindedness. It will leverage wearables, a digital coach and behavioural science to offer personalised engagement, and members can earn rewards such as gift cards, tablets, and charitable donations for reaching personal goals.

In March 2021 Dacadoo partnered with Colombia-based Seguros Bolívar, providing them with the technology to launch a digital wellness platform.

That same month, Digital Insurance Group (DIG) partnered with dacadoo to offer lifestyle based products to life insurance clients. The new Health Risk Quantification product, which can be integrated easily via DIG's low-code and open API platform, enables accelerated underwriting, personalised pricing and lessens the need for in-person assessments.
