Covela

Covela is a free digital insurance agent for companies that offers personalised advice to help businesses get the ideal coverage. Covela's platform helps SME's explore and analyse real-time insurance pricing options, and also enables them to purchase and manage their policies from one centralised space. The platform is available for all SMEs, regardless of their insurer. SMEs also have the option to communicate with support agents online or via phone if they need further advice.

The platform specialises in damage and civil liability insurance, though also has insurance for fleets, accidents and group life. The platform has insurance partnerships with AIG, AXA, HDI, Mapfre, GMX and Zurich.

Co-Founder and CEO Victor Garrido has stated the company was created to fill a need in Mexico, where more than 80% of SMEs do not have insurance. Covela has stated its customers come from a wide range of industries, including hospitality, construction, dental and more.

In the summer of 2019 Covela was announced as part of Y Combinator's accelerator. As a result of this, the startup raised $150k in August 2019 from the accelerator.
