Battleface

Battleface offers a travel medical insurance for travellers who are not effectively supported by ordinary travel insurance.

Battleface provides unique travel insurance benefits and services to travellers visiting or working internationally, including in the world’s most challenging places. It cover dangerous places, emergency medical treatment, evacuation and accidents, adventure activities and travel to isolated places with 24/7 on-the-ground assistance and claims services.

Battleface is a product trading name of Tangiers Insurance Services, an insurance intermediary and coverholder acting on behalf of certain underwriters at Lloyd’s.

In June 2020 Battleface partnered with Roanoke Travel Insurance to launch new sales in the US.

Battleface raised a $12m Series A round for market expansion and a new HQ in December 2020. Despite the pandemic, the travel insurtech says it's seen 'exponential growth' as travellers want more protection.

In May 2021 Battleface partnered with Hippo-owned Spinnaker Insurance company. The new partnership will offer Battleface more flexibility, through modular services, when designing B2B2C products.

In July 2021 Battleface annonunced the launch of Discovery Travel Insurance, which uses a modular approach to provide travellers more flexibility when choosing their travel insurance benefits. 

Then in January 2023 the company launched Robin Assist, a new tech-driven platform as a service that uses APIs to support travel insurance. It was created for insurance carriers, brokers, managing general agents (MGAs) and self-insured enterprise partners. Robin Assist services include claims handling, medical case management, and travel assistance.

Battleface entered the Canadian market in February 2023 with the launch of a travel insurance product developed in partnership with Hunter McCorquodale. Battleface also plans to custom-build programs for B2B2C and B2C travel distribution partners in the country, as well as designing group travel policies for the corporate, education and non-profit sectors.
